COCl₂ (Phosgene,포스겐가스) – Use of NATO-Approved Surrogate CK (포스겐 가스(COCl₂)는 시한화염화(CK)가스로 대처하여 실험할수있도록 NATO에서 승인되어있습니다)Phosgene (COCl₂) cannot be used in laboratory-scale tests due to extreme toxicity and international restrictions.
Accordingly, NATO AEP-54, STANAG and U.S. MIL test protocols mandate the use of Cyanogen Chloride (CK) as the official surrogate for Phosgene.
· 다음사항의 규정을 참고해주시기 바랍니다
AEP-54: Annex C & Annex F
STANAG 4634: Appendix B
MIL-STD-282 / ASTM F1052: CK listed as representative agent
· Justification for CK as Phosgene surrogate(COCl₂ 데체물로서 CK의 정당성)
• CK is chemically more aggressive and more challenging for carbon filters than COCl₂
• Both gases react with the same active impregnations in ASZM-TEDA carbon (Cu, Zn, Mo, TEDA)
• CK breakthrough performance predicts COCl₂ performance with a significant safety margin
• The Battelle test uses standard ATC conditions, directly transferable through Bed Contact Time (BCT) analysis
A carbon bed surviving >360 minutes of CK exposure ensures full compliance with the required ≥ 60 minutes protection against Phosgene (COCl₂).
This surrogate approach is fully in line with NATO AEP-54 requirements for collective protection filters.
